I came up with this design some time ago and just got to work on it and finish it last week. The one thing that I originally had in mind was the scales and the waves on the bottom tier. I knew I wanted a sea urchin as the cake topper and some pearls for the top tier. I started working with the third tier, overlaying the circles to get the effect of the scales. I airbrushed some of them with super pearl and gold and some with a darker blue around the edges. Also, I airbrushed each tier around the bottom to add some dimension. The next tier I worked on was the one with the pearls, which honestly I did not feel like doing because gluing all those pearls is a pain! I knew I wanted waves for the bottom tier but was not sure what to do with the second tier, so I just started making swirls and gold buttons and finally worked on the sea urchin. The sea shells and pearls were added at the end and were not part of the original design. I really took my time and added new elements that really made this cake a spectacular ocean themed cake. I love the moroccan feel to it too, which I did not intend at all!
Black and White is in for 2011! Damask design is also very popular for weddings and very elegant. I designed this cake and used cutters to make my own damask design rather than using a stencil, which believe me would have been much easier and faster. But I like using this technique better because I can overlay some of the pieces and give the design some dimension. The red roses are gumpaste and really finish this design beautifully! I also love the sugar pearls around the borders, so elegant!
I love to design cakes that are unique, and I also love anything vintage. I came up with this design that incorporates different textures and has a vintage feel. I was quite happy with how it came together, love the ruffles, flower applications, bow, and purse.

Happy Birthday Carissa! Sorry I could not be there, but I know you had a fabulous birthday party! This was my first attempt at My Little Pony, 3D cake. The only none edible element was the head, which I made and carved out of styrofoam.

Really enjoyed making this cake today and using different techniques like hand painting the gold cake, and then airbrushing and painting the swirls with a brush. Ironman is made out of rice crispies and covered in fondant. But the best part of today was having my son Jeremy who is 5 years old, help me by overseeing the details of this cake! He was occupied making his own figurines but at the end, when I was done, I asked him to critique Ironman and he told me I was missing a couple of details. I'm so glad he was around! I told him that from now on, he will work with me when I have to make anything like Super Heroes!

I was recently asked by Food Network to submit an audition video for their upcoming season of Challenge. Wow, what an honor and sense of accomplishment that is, when your passion and hard work is noticed and recognized! Check out the audition video and wish me the best!
